A spinal cord injury (SCI) changes your life overnight. Getting used to it can take time and patience.
We’re here to help you live the life you want, in your own home. Perhaps you’re thinking about coming home after being in hospital. Or maybe you need some extra help because your circumstances have changed or you’re getting a bit older. Whatever stage you’re at, we’re ready to support you.
How we can help with Spinal Cord Injuries
At Vitality Home Health, we know that every situation is different. We’ll take time to get to know you. We will personalise our care to your needs and prioritise your dignity at all times. Our professional Vitality caregivers are trained to a high standard and experienced in caring for people with Spinal Cord Injuries with kindness and respect.
What we offer
Support with personal care
Our caregivers understand that everyday routines such as skin care, exercise, and bladder and bowel care are essential for your health and well-being. They’ll help you with all of this so you won’t need to worry.
Practical help
We offer help with all those practical jobs that can be difficult with a Spinal Cord Injury, including housework, shopping and laundry. Your caregiver can prepare meals if you wish. We can also help you get into a good routine with your medicines, healthcare check-ups and any appointments you have with physios or occupational therapists.
Help getting out and about
We can help with mobility and positioning. If needed, we can help to arrange an accessible vehicle that can take you and your mobility equipment to your destination.
GP-led care
Our GP is here for you. He’ll come and meet you, and work with you to develop a care, nutrition and lifestyle plan designed to help you have the best possible quality of life.
Smart support
We’ve introduced pioneering smart tech to help make sure your care is joined up. It allows everyone involved in your care to know exactly what’s going on, with your permission. You can access your information at any time. And, if you wish, our smart tech system can also keep family members updated.
Emotional support
Our caregivers will always be happy to sit and have a chat with you and your loved ones, and to help you find solutions to any problems you may be having.
If you’re looking for more information and help, there are a number of organisations out there; Spinal Injuries Association, Back Up Trust and Aspire.
