Yesterday Wendy and Debbie travelled to London for the Providers Unite rally to Westminster. We felt it was important, as a group of voices is much louder than ours!
There were over 3000 providers of Social Care walking together to voice their concerns over Social Care. Rachel Reeves’ budget back in October 2024 lacked the funding so desperately needed in Social Care. If that wasn’t enough, the additional financial burden of the increase of National Insurance contributions which come into force next month, will cause many Social Care providers to make some very difficult decisions, some may even feel that they have no option other than to close the doors for good. So the future looks bleak…… But yesterday you would never have thought it. On a February day, the sun shone down on us, enabling us to stand at Parliament and call for action! Representatives and Ministers from the Liberal Democrat party joined us, they explained to us that they stand with us and agree that the state of Social Care needs to be addressed urgently!!!
The comradery could be felt amongst us all, banners were held up high and all we can say is if the Government could pull together like the 3000 Social Care providers did yesterday, Social Care might just stand a chance.
