Our customers and staff really got into the swing of the VE Day celebrations. One customer wrote us these lovely words:

I was a child throughout the war and spent much of the time in London in our Morrison shelter, an indoor metal one that served as a large metal table with metal mesh sides. As we cowered inside in the dark, waiting for rockets’ engines to cut out, we counted from 1 to 13, and if we got that far, we knew we were alive.
My generation had always lived in the dark and couldn’t believe it when the end of the war was announced. Suddenly, all the lights came on, and church bells rang out.
Thanks to you for your gift and with the help of a carer, outside of my house now proudly displays the Union Flag, all provided by you and the carers wear the badges.
